The new school year begins!

Davis and Andrew started going to Mother's Day Out (Andrew) and the 3-Year Old Preschool class (Davis). We had orientation on August 28th. They call it the "Cookie Lookie" because it gives the students a chance to look at their classrooms and have cookies with their new teachers and friends. While they are playing and having cookies, parents go the orientation meeting...without cookies, unfortunately. Lots of good info shared, but cookies would really add to the event, if you ask me!

Davis's class is called the "Lambs"...each class is known by an animal name. We met his teachers for this year, who are Ms. Melanie and Ms. Gina.
Ms. Melanie was his teacher this past summer, too, and he is in the same classroom, so he felt very "at home" going back this fall. He ran right into the classroom and started playing.

Andrew's teachers are Ms. Brenda and Ms. Tracy.
He is in the 2-year-old class, which is the "Bears". His room had a bubble-making machine in it, so he ran right in and started chasing bubbles. He was very excited, and really didn't miss me as I left for the parent meeting. He has been really ready to go to school like "bubba" for this whole year, so he's feeling more like a big boy these days.

All the classes go to chapel each day that they are there, and have a lot of fun singing songs and hearing Bible stories. Davis has a spanish class and they seem to be learning a lot already. We can't wait to see what this year brings!

2024 Olympics?

Davis participated in his first gymnastics class this week. He was a little nervous last week, and said it was a little too scary. But this week he ran right out there - said "I want to go by myself" - and joined the class!

Here they all are at the start of class, waiting for instructions.

Andrew waited on the sidelines with Mommy and did a lot of coloring. He cried for "bubba" a couple of times, but we made it through.

The class headed out to the floor to warm-up and do some stretching...

After warm-up, they broke into groups of 3 kids each to rotate to different stations and try out different exercises. Here's Davis's first rotation, which was some kind of jumping/balance exercise. He did great...actually, I thought he was the best, and I'm not biased at all! ; )
His second rotation was doing front rolls, which he loves!

His final rotation was the balance beam, and he was supposed to balance a frog on his head while walking across. One of his favorite things to do is try to balance walking across things, so you know he loved this one! They are waiting for their turn so patiently.

Here he goes...

And TA-DA!!! (they really do call that ending pose the "ta-da"!)

He had so much fun! I kept clapping and giving him big thumbs up signs, and he would give me a thumbs up right back. It's a 45-minute class, and he did great the whole time.

Don't know if we're ready for the Olympics just yet, but maybe after a few more classes!

Superheros to the rescue!

Davis and Andrew love their new pajamas...Davis is Superman and Andrew is Batman. The p.j.s came with capes - can you believe it?! Too cute.

These guys were so excited to get their superhero p.j.s on they were running around screaming and jumping for a half hour! Not too good before bed, but you've gotta have a little fun, right?

Does being Batman give you license to stand on the couch? Apparently so...at least for that evening!
Davis loved his cape and his even lights up behind the "S" on his shirt. Wonder if he will ever get to sleep tonight?
